Ye Olde Salutation

The Salutation Inn has an unusually large set of caves beneath it which pre-date the existing building and are thought to have been originally excavated by the Anglo-Saxons who used them as a dwelling. The group of three small rooms across the north end of the site, at the foot of the entrance steps are thought to be a guardsmen's cave to the left, and a living room to the right.

We will start by meeting above the pub in the base room for the night, before venturing into the dark caves under the pub. Whilst we're down there, we will endeavour to communicate with any spirits that would like to make themselves know on the night. Little ‘Rosie’ is said to haunt the caves, so bring a child’s teddy with you and let’s see if she can move them and play with them for us on the night! Many people have reported stones being thrown, auditory phenomena and host of other activities associated with the area.
